I really enjoy when Alex calls, I like to talk to him and he always makes me laugh when he calls, it always spices things up.

Top Ten Least Scary Horror Movies?
I'm losing my faith in Yahoo. I've ever seen any of those movies and haven't heard of half of them. I wanna find out how to get the stupid jobs that Yahoo offers. It doesn't sound like you need college, or common sense, to hold them.

This was an interesting part of the music scene around St. Louis for a little while in the early spring. The City of Belleville (IL) shut down the only all ages venue in the city and managed to piss off all the kids. Here's a basic summing up of the response to the city by the kids. The video was made by my friend Johnny B and features a good friend of mine, Patrick Cadaver

So I entered the documentary I made about the Belleville music scene/Illegal Tone to this film contest in Chicago, and I'm going to Chicago tomorrow because it was chosen to be at the final showing. There were only 4 films, including mine that are being shown, so that is really awesome. Thanks to Dan Cross and Thom Murray for helping me edit it, and Rhino, Josh Jenkins, Ryan Culbertson, and Jeff Hursey for filming parts of it too! Thanks to Jeff, Pat, and Dan for the awesome interviews, it added alot to the film! Thanks to everyone that was involved and was at the protest/city meeting. Thanks to all the bands and everyone who went to the shows and cared about something unique and special. Here is the link to the website if you wanna read more about it and the other film makers

Switching from the main computer to Kyle's laptop always throws me off because of the time differences. This computer is always around 2 or 3 minutes behind! And I don't like it!

When I say the new Tom Gabel is all we've been listening to, I wasn't kidding. Kyle is fervently dancing in the other booth right now, and Kyle's last.fm charts prove my statement as true as well.
Told you so.

As of today, I have been without my laptop for two weeks, 3 hours, and 19 minutes. I very much miss it, and I hope to have it back to me by at least Wednesday because that's when those unreliable...people...from TigerTech told me that my baby would be returned to me. I've been lost without it for so long.

So, apparently, somebody was crazy enough to make a documentary about all the Harry Potter-inspired bands out there, such as Harry and the Potters (who only played in libraries when they toured), Draco and the Malfoys, the Whomping Willow, and all those seven-year old kids who also decide to start their own magic-driven band. It's called "We Are Wizards," and you can view the preview here:
P.S. I am still not a Streets fan.
P.S.S. It is COLD here. Even inside, I'm still cold with my infamous teal and light gray striped hoodie...which everyone else has now, so I guess I can't really claim for it being my own. Oh well. My point is that it's cold!!!!

GOOD NEWS!!!
All,
As of this evening, we have reached an agreement with MSA President Jim Kelley and VP Chelsea Johnson in which they will provide funding for a new tower and transmitter. The funds should be freed as early as tomorrow morning and work will begin in earnest to make the move to Schurz Hall. MSA's concern from the start was that KCOU wasn't valuable to the student population, but our collective voice and hard work have shown to them that just the opposite is true - the station is a valuable part of both this campus community and Columbia as a whole. So, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the efforts over the past couple of weeks. Without your help, this would not have been possible.
Now, while that addresses the immediate threat of the tower and transmitter - the concern has now shifted from whether KCOU is worth funding to how can we protect KCOU's future. It is this concern that has brought us into a new and interesting situation. During the course of this process, MSA has come to the realization that their focus should be advocacy and not managing radio stations. As a result, they want the station to become more self-sufficient and, eventually, to become a fully independent entity separate from MSA. We agree. This is both a great opportunity and a risky proposition because it ultimately places KCOU in a position to be both totally accountable for management and a large chunk of its funding. Keep in mind, this process of separation will take years to complete, so we will not be forced out on our own financially any time soon. However, we must begin preparing for this eventuality starting today.
The efforts we put forth under savekcou.org will continue, but take on a slightly new direction. We must work to save KCOU in the long-term by laying the groundwork to have regular fundraising, underwriting, support from alumni and local businesses, etc. The savekcou.org site will serve as a focal point for these efforts and a reminder of how close we came to the end. We need to also continue working on expanding our presence on campus and engaging new listeners through promotions and other activities. Perhaps most important of all, we need to continue to work on improving our sound as a station and, individually, on each of our shows - making them better each and every week.
We are not in this alone. We have a number of allies now within MSA, RHA, and the community along with our ever-growing support base of proud alumni, friends, and family. While this whole process has been painful, tiring, and - at times - extremely frustrating, it is safe to say that we learned a lot about ourselves as a station and as an organization. Moving forward and working together with our supporters, we will continue to improve KCOU and lay the foundation for the station to succeed in the years to come.
KCOU has survived several threats to its existence in the 45 years it has been around, each time persevering through the efforts of the very students the station is here to serve. Consider yourselves a part of this history now, as you have followed in this long tradition of protecting KCOU from being silenced and fading into the night. There is much work ahead of us, but there is a path and a plan.

Week Four, Show Four

Well friends, after several minutes of me being an internet retard and Kyle saving my ass, here is the latest blog for our latest show. I know all you loyalists are bursting with excitement. No need to hide it.

Don't forget, everybody, to go to savekcou.org. We're still in dire need of any help you can give us seeing as the bill failed at the senate meeting last Wednesday. Both Kyle and I can tell you that it was a loooong two and a half hours with a few embarrassing comments made on behalf of a few MSA senators. But anyways, the bottom line is that as of right now, the funds we need to keep operating into next semester aren't there, so we need EVERYONE to log on to SAVEKCOU.ORG. Donate money and get a t-shirt, write any of the senators listed, sign up for the mailing list/text mob. We need all of our listeners to help out on this one!!! Don't let the only student-run radio station in Columbia and our efforts be for naught!

Tom Gabel - Anna is a Stool Pigeon
Tom Gabel is back to writing protest songs. It's an interesting story about a group of people that were scammed by an FBI undercover agent into blowing up the Nimbus dam in upstate New York. The ethics question comes into question whether the "anarchists" would have pulled off the stunt without the help of "Anna" the undercover agent. Eric McDavid is still sitting in jail and looking at 20 years to life for "conspiracy against the government". The other two activists that we arrested were let go leniently for ratting out Eric, something Eric refused to do, and both are currently out of jail. Anna is living a nice, guilt-free life. It's fuckin' 3:01 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14. My mother is upset that my radio show is this early in the morning because she thinks that it will interfere with my sleep schedule, which is probably true. But, hey, I'm a college student, and that's what naps are for anyways!
My birthday is in two months as of yesterday! So now my birthday's in two months minus two days. Everyone should remember since I pretty much have the easiest birthday to remember ever (12/12).
We just played the Dodos! Visiter (2008) was a great album. Too bad I heard they are not so hot live, as in just really boring. Kinda like MGMT. How disappointing...

I am perusing through a book entitled On This Date... that was just chillin' on the desk in my current section of the studio. Today is bald person day! It's also Dwight D. Eisenhower's birthday for all you history buffs, a.k.a. Kyle. The sound barrier was also broken today in 1947. Yay science!
